THRIVE PARENT CONFERENCES
Most parents go through the child rearing years just trying to survive. But is that really the goal? Isn’t there more to parenting than just surviving? From Survive to Thrive is a Parent Conference designed to give you practical ways you can move from surviving as a parent to thriving. We’ll have 12 different breakout sessions to customize the conference experience just for you. Here is a list of available breakout sessions to choose from:
Available Breakout Sessions
Tech Traps Facing Families DANGER! DANGER! DANGER! Technology can be pretty scary and allowing your child unrestricted access is a dangerous move. You’re the first generation of parents to face the challenge of helping your child make the most of technology and the internet while keeping them safe in it. If you’re still getting your footing in technology and online safety, don’t worry. This breakout will provide several principles to ensure you are equipped to avoid the common tech traps that are out there: explicit online material, cyber-bullying, social media, “sexting”, and more…
The Exhausted Mom
Looking forward to sharing with you the jewels found in the Word and practical tips that were passed on to me to enable this Mom to move beyond the exhaustion to experiencing the joy and blessing this time in our lives was meant to be. (Of course this is only possible because of Christ!) We will specifically talk about time; ways we can prioritize, simplify and actually enjoy the time God gives us each day with our children. Another important area we need to discuss is “you.” You have many hats to wear each day. You may feel you’ve lost who you really are in the craziness of life. From the Word, we will look at how God sees us, who He created us to be and how He enables us to be the Mom we want to be.
Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours. Bring out the best in your children without letting them get the better of you! This breakout is designed to equip parents with principles of a loving no-nonsense parenting approach that really works. Learn to use authority and decisiveness to show your kids you care and give yourself freedom and put yourself back in the driver’s seat. Come learn how you CAN raise responsible, happy children – without raising your blood pressure!
Re-Connect: The Value Of Family Fun Time If you think quality family time is sitting on the couch watching television, then this breakout is for you. This breakout session will equip parents with tools and resources needed to bring their family closer together through investing just a few hours a week. In this breakout parents will learn everything needed to plan their own family game night. Parents will also learn how to have big family fun on a small budget. Not only will parents receive a wealth of information for planning their own family game night, but the latest resources and games will be available for parents to see how family game nights work for families of all ages and sizes.
Transitioning Teenagers Toward Independence The end game of parenting, while not the most physical demanding chapter, nonetheless presents some fascinating challenges. Join us for a look at the opportunities presented by this unique phase of life for you and your young adult “child.”
Chosen Parents For Differently Designed Kids Seeing God’s good design in disability can be difficult when you are seeing that different design in one of your children. Raising a child with special needs is not an easy process, but it can be an enlightening adventure in viewing Your Child and life through a unique perspective. Your child is an extraordinary gift created to love as a unique individual with a specific purpose. If you have been given the high calling of caring for a child with special needs, consider yourself specially chosen for that role. May this session encourage you to remain faithful and persevere on this challenging but rewarding journey as you seek to help your child and yourselves maintain symbiotic relations.
Dad: The Most Powerful Man You Know As a father you are called to be the leader of your family in all areas of life, and you have the power to influence your children like no other person on earth. You make all the difference. You have the responsibility. You have what it takes! Join us to see how your roles as God’s man, husband, and father define your success raising your sons and daughters.
Proper Priorities Of Parenting When you buy a car, TV, or computer, you get an instruction manual. But what about your children – did they come with a manual? Yes… it’s called the Bible. Join us as we share the good, the bad and even some of the ugly of parenting as we discuss what God’s Word has to say about consistent, loving parenting and much more!
Parenting Issues Facing Blended Families Will it blend? Those of us who have experienced the privilege-and the frustrations-of being a stepparent know it is a rewarding journey with many opportunities to stretch and grow as Christians and as individuals. Come learn how to establish guidelines that both parents agree to and the children clearly understand.
5 Love Languages Of A Child Do you speak your child’s love language? Based on Gary Chapman’s book, learn to use quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, and physical touch to convey love in your child’s unique language. Whether preschoolers or teenagers, your children will benefit from the time you invest discovering the best way to fill their “love tank.”
All By Myself No one needs to tell you that single parenting is tough. You’re the one who has been up countless nights, caught off guard for the tough questions, felt like the odd shoe with no match in sight, or felt truly alone when your children are with your ex. You wonder, does anyone else feel this way? Numerous single parents have walked this same road in the past, and many others are walking it with you right now. Join us and let us help you discover a way of living that will give you a balanced, healthy, loving environment where you and your children can move ahead with confidence.
